Genesis and development of university cities
King Farouk laid the foundation stone on February 12, 1949 and the university campus and stadiums occupy 46 acres of university land overlooking Tharwat Street.
The first thought on the establishment of dormitories for students of Cairo University was issued by the University Committee formed in 1917 and submitted a report for implementation until the Faculty of Arts was active in renting a house for its students and those who could house them of university students in return for a small fee for housing, food and amenities such as the library. Telephone, etc., and the appointment of a supervisor for student affairs.
On September 4, 1945, a decree was issued to re-regulate the university city and then replaced this decree by another decree on December 18, 1952, and amended by a decision of the Council of Ministers issued on August 24, 1955, adopting the regulations of the study and social disciplinary system for university students, which stipulated the articles 153 and later on the provisions of the university dormitories and then this list was canceled by the decision of the President of the Republic on December 23, 1956 issued by the executive regulations of the law of organizing Egyptian universities.

- The student pays a first-time enrollment installation fee of $1,500 paid only once.

- Colleges of Veterinary Medicine, Agriculture, Science and Nursing $4,000 per year.
